The Village of Athienou, Island of Cyprus

The village is located in a valley of shorn barley fields surrounded by the purple Troodos mountains.

The archaelogical digs are nearby, and the many years of digging has produced information about the site as a sanctuary used over many millenia. The finds are many and include beautiful sculptures, ceramics and some jewelry and can be seen at the museum in Larnaca, Cyprus.
